The Dormillouse Battery

Built in 1862, these fortification was part of the South Alps defensive system against Italy. It is settled on a summit wich local name is "Dormillouse", it means sleeper, popular name for marmot.

From the top, at 2 505m high it looked after the Ubaye valley and controlled the pass.
The CCVU restored the battery in 2002, turning it intoa refuge.

A festival takes place in July.
